Prior to Covid I had enjoyed many global travel adventures. Then, like most others, there was utter shock as the nation locked down, movie theaters and restaurants closed and we sheltered in place. Any and all thoughts of planning new travel adventures were DOA. Dreaded months with no vaccine in sight brought fear and the specter of loss all around us. May or even most were touched by loss. In early 2022 I was diagnosed with diabetes 2 and put on a low carb regimen. My love of carb laden bread, cookies cakes and the like made this all the more difficult.
Enter my local health food shop! Peering down one aisle I caught sight of a colorful display of
of Sami’s Millet & Flax chips. Their nutritional labels passed muster in every category. The low Plain chips had zero sugar, zero saturated fat and low carbs while other flavors I tried were close albeit a bit of sugar in some. I preferred the plain chips with zero sugar. When my local health food shop stopped carrying your chips I easily ordered them, sometimes a dozen or more bags per order.

Finally, in the Spring of 2022 there was light at the end of the Covid tunnel. My ming body and soul need to get away, to bask in sunshine and breath fresh air. Living in the SF Bay Area gave me one sure way to go. In a flash I booked a ten days cruise from SF to Alaska inside passage. As an experienced cruiser I knew well the ‘perils’ of high carb temptations from breakfast bagels, to pizza snacks and a menu list of delectable desserts! What to do? What to do?

My master plan was ultra successful. I packed I packed four packages of our Millet & Flax Plain chips and contemplated this wonderful cruise as the ships set sail.

Breakfasts on cruise ships are a delight. I headed straight for the omelette chef for my egg whites mixed with healthy veggies. Next, was cream cheese and smoked salmon lathered atop You guessed it, my Millet & Flax chips. I was in cruise ship breakfast heaven.

Lunches offered many protein/veggie choices so no need for the chips. BUT, I did snag a zip lock full of cheese slices. I added chips to the bag and enjoyed great chips and cheese snacks at pools side..

Dinners were awesome! Chips with butter instead of bread worked super well. When I was served my favorite french onion soup sans bread I added crushed chips so totally yummy! My substitute for the menus tempting desserts was nightly red sugar free Jello with real whipped cream. My back up was their nightly cheese platter together with your chips.

Sami’s chips came through big time allowing me to ‘keep legal’ while enjoying the ships sensational meals!
